Position: It is good to pay attention to the social grouping of cattle even though it may take more time.

Reasoning:
Keeping groups of cattle together is a good idea because the cattle have social bonds and will remain healthier if they are less stressed by being moved around lots without consideration for this. Cattle even have best friends (1). We believe It makes sense to consider who they are going to end up with if they are going to be put up for market or transported to a different farm.

It can be difficult to notice these things however depending on the type and scale of the operation.  Hectic large scale environments it seems would be the hardest places to pay attention to the subtle bonds between cattle.
